About us

LA Hally Architect is an award-winning RIBA Chartered Practice with a young, fresh and innovative approach to design. Our small team of fully qualified Architects is committed to delivering high quality bespoke architecture, tailored to the needs of you and your family.

“We first find out from our clients what their current and expected needs are then we work with them to create their personalised design – working on all scales of the project from the overall concept down to the detail of junctions between different materials. We create lifestyle architecture that provides a flexible uplifting environment of flowing,  well-lit, inspirational spaces that can transform the way you live.”  Lesley Hally, Practice Director

Founded in 2009 by Lesley Hally, LA Hally Architect focuses on high quality private residential projects, which are approached with a passion for contemporary design and detail. Although most of our work is based in Hampshire, we have also had successful projects in the New Forest, Channel Islands, Surrey, Berkshire and London, and our projects  have been featured in a range of magazines such as Real HomesGrand DesignsHomebuilding and Renovating, and Build It, as well as featuring in Channel 4’s Homes by the Sea. At LA Hally Architect we understand that each client has specific needs and rather than prescribing a strict design style, we approach each project individually. We work closely with our clients and contractors to ensure that the vision for each project is fully realised. The ultimate aim is that users of the completed building experience the joy and beauty in the clever use of materials, detailing, space and light.

Planning – Project 838

So pleased to share that Buckinghamshire Council granted us planning permission for Project 838 at the end of last week! This village hall is to undergo a major remodelling to create more flexibility, a more welcoming entrance, and better accessibility.

Office – International Women’s Day 2026

March 2026

International Women’s Day 2026 has just passed and we’ll be spending some time reflecting on what it means to us this week. Whether in the office or out and about on site and beyond, we’re always proud of what we do!

Office – LA Hally 17th Anniversary

March 2026

This week marks 17 years of LA Hally! We’ve worked on lots of interesting projects over the years, from new builds to extensions to conversions, working on both domestic and commercial buildings. We’re excited to see what the next year will bring!

Site – House 803

February 2026

Some great progress is being made on site at House 803! This family home extension is coming on well, here are some progress shots from where we are now vs where we started…

Site – House 806

February 2026

Set back from the street and screened by trees, House 806 is a modest 1.5 storey home that has been transformed into a sleek, multigenerational family home with the addition of a 1.5 storey extension. This one is nearing completion & the clients recently sent us these update photos, lovely to see how the projects that we don’t go on site with turn out!

January 2026

These impressive before & after shots are of House 439. This rear and two-storey side extension was constructed from SIPS and created space for a new utility, a new stairwell, and a new spacious master suite.

January 2026

As House 839 progresses on site, we start to see the key views emerge. The new hallway frames a notable view towards the original fireplace which should be highlighted nicely once the renovation of this bungalow is completed!

Planning Permission – House 837

January 2025

House 837 is another project we got planning permission for just before the festive break! This conversion project sees an old, disused dairy farm building turned into a habitable annex. As with House 842, this project is rolling straight into the technical detailing stage so there will be more to come from this one…

Planning Permission – House 842

January 2026

Happy new year all! Just before Christmas we received planning permission for House 842. This residential extension features a large open plan kitchen-diner space with a luxurious master suite above, both of which have ample visual connections to the peaceful setting the house resides in. The approval also includes permission for a new detached triple garage with an attached workshop & potting shed.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

December 2025

Last week we had our Christmas party which started with an escape room and ended with a lovely festive dinner! Just to note that our office will be closing this Friday (19th December) for the Christmas period and we’ll be re-opening in the new year on Monday 5th January. Until then, we wish you a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

Year Wrap Up 2025

December 2025

2025 has been a whirlwind for us here at LA Hally Architect but here are some of the highlights from this past year!

We’ve had lots of projects through the planning stage including Houses 793, 795, 821, 830, 835, 836, 839 & 842. This covers a real mix of projects from family home extensions to a new build in conservation area. We’ve got a couple more in the planning process at the moment so keep an eye out for updates on Houses 837 & 838! These are both super exciting projects, the former is a conversion of an old farm building, and the latter is an extension & partial rebuild of a community village hall in Buckinghamshire.

Houses 787, 792, 803, 817, 821, 830 and 839 have all started on site with Houses 836 & 848 heading towards that stage too. We’ll hopefully have some final pictures to share come the new year!

Houses 643, 737, 753, 818 have finished on site and are all lovely projects. We had lots of professional photoshoots on site this year including Houses 737, 753, 818, but also House 439, a SIPS construction cantilevered extension to a family home in the Twyford conservation area.

This year, the press features have been all about annexes. This includes two features for House 596, a bold extension & new build annexe in the Stockbridge conservation area, and one for House 456, another annexe project in a conservation area but this time was for a conversion of an ex-coach house rather than a new build.

This year we also launched our new website and have had lots of lovely reviews left for us on Google which are always much appreciated! We also made time to visit the Futurebuild Expo in London which we ended with a lovely walk through the city.

Our office closes after our last day on Friday 19th December 2025 until we re-open again on Monday 5thJanuary 2026. There’s lots of exciting projects in the works with us at the moment including House 846, an angled extension in a conservation area, and House 850, a renovation project in a Grade II listed farmhouse. There’s plenty more in the pipeline so we’re looking forward to seeing what 2026 will bring!

Office – Christmas Card 2025

December 2025

Happy December everyone! We’re starting to feel festive here in the office with this year’s Christmas card arriving from the printers. The card features House 753 which has been turned into a winter wonderland âť„️📸 Jack Tyzack-Smith

Planning – House 795

November 2025

Permission was recently granted by Winchester City Council for a replacement dwelling within the Winchester conservation area! This new build utilises a double pitch to achieve good head heights internally without becoming overly imposing on its local streetscape.

Portfolio – House 818

November 2025

The interiors for House 818 were fashioned to the client’s taste, creating well-designed spaces that feel intentionally crafted and well-suited to their function. All of the finishes work together to elevate the final finish of the home, all the way from the luxurious large format tiles lining both the floor and the walls in the bathrooms, to the charming floor tiles in the entry way.
